Registering you and your dog to compete in Dogs NZ agility

Before you can enter a show, you need to:
  • have a permanent agility number
  • have your dog measured
  • be a member of Dogs NZ
  • be a member of a Dogs NZ club (e.g. DAWG)
  • have your dog registered with Dogs NZ
This involves 2 x websites. Dogs NZ and Dog Agility. It takes up to 7 days to get your Dogs NZ membership number, before you can register your dog.

Step 1: Get your permanent agility number

You need a permanent agility number for your dog before your measure.
Fill out the online form on Dogagility.org.nz
g Once completed you’ll be emailed a number that is a letter followed by 3 numbers and a logon for the Dog agility site. You need to be logged in to enter shows.
Notes:
Primary Handler/Owner DogsNZ Number: If you’re not yet a Dogs NZ member, tick “not known”.
Dog DogsNZ Number: (eg OB/6677):
  • If you haven’t yet registered your dog, tick “not known”.
  • If you have a registered purebred dog, use the XXXXX-YYYY number. (the YYYY is the year your dog was born/registered).

Step 2: Join Dogs NZ

Complete the online form on Dogs NZ
There is a cost of $107.50. You will need to pay this each year to compete. You get a pretty decent discount off the Interislander ferry with membership.

Step 3: Register your dog with Dogs NZ

If you have a Dogs NZ registered dog already (ie a purebred dog from a breeder), you don’t need to do this step (go to step 4).
You need to wait until you get your membership number then download the PDF and complete it
Download the form from Dogs NZ website
Note: You can call your dog anything you like, it doesn’t have to be their pet name. :) e.g. HRH Queen Edie of the Feets. This is the name that will appear on all clear round certificates and title awards.
Your dog will get a number that starts with OB/

Step 4: Update your profile and your dog’s profile on the dog agility website.

Log in to the site
You: Select My Profile from the menu. Add your Dogs NZ membership number.
Dog: select My dogs > my dogs from the menu. Click the icon of pencil and paper. Add your dog’s Dogs NZ number (OB/XXXX).
